- 1/3/2012 As a follow-up to the LGBT listening sessions HHS recently held across the country, today the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a summary update - “Better Health and Well-Being: Making Improvements for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender (LGBT) Americans.”
The document summarizes specific actions that HHS has taken through 2011, at the direction of President Obama and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, to promote equal treatment of LGBT Americans, provide enhanced resources for LGBT health issues, and develop better information regarding LGBT health needs. The update also summarizes how the Affordable Care Act is improving access to health coverage for LGBT Americans.
- 9/20/2011 Freedom to Serve! "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is finally repealed. Today officially marks the beginning of the new DoD policy to treat everyone as professionals. FDA GLOBE salutes all past, present, and future LGBTQ members of the Armed Services. We thank you for your courage, dedication, and patriotism.

- 9/1/2011 Meryland Cuevas received the FDA group Diversity in Action Award on behalf of the San Juan District's Diversity Committee for their diversity inclusiveness and achievements including LGBTQ equality at FDA field offices. - 7/22/2011 Certification issued to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Policy. The final repeal is scheduled for September 20, 2011.
- OPM released personnel policies supporting transgender employees:
- Guidance for working with trans employees.
- Guidance for fed insurers to categorize trans people by true gender, while providing body care for birth gender plus covering hormones.
- Guidance for how to seal a personnel file and build new one after transition.

8/6/2010 - OPM Director John Berry announced on August 6, 2010, that the annual "Out & Equal Workplace Summit" qualifies as Training for Federal Employees, in compliance with 5 U.S.C. Chapter 41. Interested FDA employees may attend, with supervisory permission. The event takes place Oct. 5-8, 2010, in Los Angeles, CA.
