- In a groundbreaking move, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) ruled that transgender employees are covered under Title VII of the Civil Rights code which bars discrimination based on gender.

federal government prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation
and gender identity. The sexual orientation policy has been in place
